Senior Picture Night

The line was not moving at all. One student said he was the first in line at 3:00pm, he had to leave at 4:40 because he had to work at 5:00 . Another student said " I got there at 5:30 and they still weren't taking pictures, it was really cold and the outside line was windy and ruining my hair". She also added that they forgot the background so it took her about two hours to get her picture taken. She said she didn't get out of there until 7:45 and some students said they didn't leave until 8:45PM.

Willie Evans, another RHS student, was also in line to take his senior pictures, but the line was too long so he went to football practice, which took about 2 hours from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, when he got there from practice, the line was still long. So he waited another hour and still never got his picture taken

Most of the interviewed students who had to work didnt get their picture taken. They said they felt, annoyed, irritated and disrespected because the company, Lifetouch, forgot the background and delayed the picture taking by hours because of it.

America: Fighting Childhood Obesity

Obesity: One of the leading causes as to the reason why kids die before their parents. It's an epidemic that's sweeping over the nation since not many individuals care to take action. However, basketball super star Shaquille O'Neal hosted a reality show titled, "Shaq's Big Challenge" which helped six overweight middle schoolers live healthier lives. The show took place over a nine month period where the six kids, aged from 11-14, were put on a changed diet and introduced exercise into their lifestyles. This was no easy feet to overcome; many of the kids were pushed to the limit as they strived to reach their goal. In the end however, it paid off. All of the kids at the end of the nine month period lost over 25LBS and the highest, an amazing 77LBS.

Not only did Shaq try to help those six individuals, but with help from professional chef Tyler Florence he even tried to change the lunch menu at their middle schools so all students could eat healthier. Another factor which played into that was if the governor of Florida saw this would help the youth of America at Broward County, he would accept the lunch changes and do his part to make it a permanent change.

The parents of the six individuals were affected by their drastic transformations in joy. At the shows finale every parent discarded tears of happiness because they knew their child would grow up healthier, and live a longer better life. Almost all of the kids were impressed of how far they had gotten, but a few were disappointed because they thought they didn't push themselves far enough and they could have done much more. This attitude is actually positive in a way since it makes them more determined to continue and try to make their goal—even though the shows deadline is over doesn't necessarily mean theirs is.
